ballin porta potty

WWW

hey guys, well after lookin at my car, and a few new edgers from various places, ive decided my car needs to be a bit more dropped. yes i drag on speed bumpbs and big dips buttttt... i can avoid those or go over them more sideways than I do now..

so what can i do to drop the car more. i already have Eibach Sportlines all around (all isolators in)... i want it slammed. what can i buy to drop it? do ball joints lower the front at all? i dont know if i want to take the isolators out or not yet.. so what are some things i can do to lower the car more?

I feel ya. I'm going from SprangZ 1" drop, to the dropzone kit, that drops it 2.5". your best bet would be either H&R's, or adjustable coilovers.

04 Mach 1, 96 Cobra

Get the Steeda X2 balljoints, they lower the front about 1/2" if you don't use the supplied spacer.  I did it on my Mach and will be doing it on the Cobra.

My suspension set up is the following:
Front:
Intrax Springs (cut 1/2 coil)
MM Caster Camber Plates
MM Upper and Lower Urethane Isolators
MM Aluminum Rack Bushings
Steeda Bumpsteer Kit
Steeda X2 Ball Joints
Tokico D-Spec Struts

Rear:
Intrax Springs
MM Adjustable Lower Control Arms, Adjusted to lowest setting
MM Upper and Lower Urethane Isolators
Tokico D-Spec Shocks

This is my car with Sportlines with No Isos in the front (no top iso, Thin rubber bike innertube for the bottom). FRPP control arms, UPR bumpsteer. The rear end is now lower than is this pic because i now have MM Adjustable LCAs

I couldnt imagine it being lower than this...it would pretty much be dragging...right now i scape on almost EVERYTHING

yeah i heard the ball joints would lower it 1/2 an inch thats why i asked about them..

idk what im going to do. for now ill probably take the iso's out cause we are going to be doing my brakes this weekend so we are going to rip the iso's out.

ill get ball joints when i get some money to spend on them.. i have other things that need attention for now.

04 Mach 1, 96 Cobra

Thanks for the comments about the Mach.  I'm hoping to get it back together this weekend.  I'm putting an 03-04 Cobra front bumper and rocker panels on.  As long as weather cooperates, I'll get some pics of the Mach and Cobra together.

I'm in the process of swapping out the suspension and redoing the brakes on the Cobra as well.
My suspension set on the Cobra will be the following:

Front:
Eibach Prokit Springs
MM Caster Camber Plates
MM Aluminum Rack Bushings
Steeda Bumpsteer Kit
Steeda X2 Ball Joints
FRPP 03-04 Cobra Control Arms
Stcok Struts (just til I get money for decent ones)

Rear:
Eibach Prokit Springs
MM Standard Lower Control Arms
FRPP Upper Control Arms
Stock Shocks (just til I get money for decent ones)

lol no kidding our turning radius sucks, I cant turn all the way even now because my wheels rub my control arms, think changing to 03 ones would stop that?  Not my tires my actual rim is gouging out my control arm.  My car is pretty damn slammed in the front id say easily as low as yours.

the SN95's suck when it comes to lowering them. My '99 was slammed to the ground, and i had no issues... I'll look into that '03/'04 front control arms like you guys said to... I could use slightly more turning radius. haha... course my tires are 245/45/17's... I think if they were 235/35/17 they'd fit much better u p front... i don't worry about the back... roll the fenders and run some 315's!!!!!

Matt, Getting 03/04 Cobra Arms makes a huge difference in turning radius because they are re-designed to use a 9 inch wide wheel...which the 03/04 cobra has. Plus they have a 50% stiffer bushings. You can find them on SVTP cheap. I got mine pretty much new for $45...they only had 7,000 miles on them. They looked brand new.

its amazing how much tighter you can turn....its crazy

Ohh And Please Further Note

The whole point on the SteedaX2/FRPP Ball joint is to have a longer ball joint to correct the mustang geometry when its lowered. When you use the spacer to lower it another half inch it totally defeated the purpose of spend all that cash on ball joints.

QUESTION!

ok, we are taking out the ISO's this weekend so i got a question for everyone.

Do i want to: (your opinions cause i dont know what is best)
Take both front and back isos out?

Tops and bottoms?

Wrap the springs in what? duct tape? how many layers?

Thanks guys, answers would be sweet right about now cause we are doing it this weekend.

leave the isos in the back, then in the front remove both top and bottom and use a bike intertube for the bottom iso, nothing on top

will putting a bike inter tube on the top do anything? i see it as an extra precaution to prevent squeeking and my dad will probably question it.. is there anything negative to putting it on the top?

Yeah my ACTUAL wheel is rubbing the A-Arm because ours are made for 7.5"?  So your saying my wheel wont rub any more, but my tires still might at full turn (mine do now going down hill at full turn).  If so im gonna buy some from stangsuspension when I get the cash.  Ive always had it on my To-Do list.

I was going to put some tube on the top but you cant due to the way the spring is made....you will understand when you see the spring.

yes. stock arms are ment to fit a 8 inch wide rim...but they were not designed very well. so ford redesigned them

Ford Racing Front Control Arms - For 94-04 Mustangs
Part #: M3075D

This kit upgrades the front lower control arms on 1994-04 Mustangs. It is the original equipment part on the 2003-04 Cobra, and has improved inner bushings that are stiffer than in earlier years. It also features low-friction ball joints. These control arms have a revised stamping for greater tire clearance. This allows the installation of larger tires, and also increases the steering angle limit for a reduced turning radius on 1994-98 Mustangs.

Fits 1994-2004 Mustangs

I got my new springs for the car... Where can i go to find used '03/'04 Cobra Control arms? i need some before i put the springs on it sounds like... is it a direct bolt in setup? nothing changes as far as where everything is going to hook up? I can run the car up to the hobby shop on base, and use the lifts, and the air guns to remove it, as i'm sure removing it from the K-member is a b*tch... Somebody post up a website where i have a good chance of finding them please... i don't know about TXCobra98, since it's his thread, but I think i'll grab some to go with the new lower lowering springs i've got, and the set of Caster Camber plates. somebody point me in the right direction!  :dancing6:

The spacer in the x2 balljoints is to lift it back up if you dont want it lowering your car anymore not to lower it more, the ball joint itself actually lowers it  O0
