1994 GT convertible.  Summit shorty unequal headers, Summit o/r H pipe, Flowmaster American Thunder cat-back.  Only other thing done to it at the time of the video was a K&N filter w/o the silencer.  It has 2.73 gears as it sits.

I will take more videos with the timing bump and 3.73s (going in in a few weeks) and eventually when I build the new motor I will have vids too.

It'll be just enough back pressure when you're feeding it with a high winding 331 w/ H/BIG "C"/I/N20....you need the flow.

ryclef331, unless you've got one helluva blower pumping through that engine there isn't an N/A 331 that will benefit from a 3" exhaust unless it is a track only car. On the street you will lose scavenging and torque in low to mid RPM. Top end HP could suffer too, flip a coin on that. Very few 400 cu. in. engines can benefit from a 3" exhaust in a street driven car. I would do some more research.

Wife's 1966 Mustang with 331 stroker.....when we bought the car it had a 289 and no-name dual exhaust with turbo mufflers. Sounded like crap. Built the engine into a 331 and it sounds great through the same exhaust, plus headers.

Doug Thorley Tri-Y headers, ceramic coated at Hi-Tech Coatings in Virginia.
No-name dual exhaust with turbo mufflers.
No tips

Sounds like a race car.

No audo clip at the moment.

I've done the research.  I'm not terribly concerned with street manners but it will still be street driven somewhat. I'm concerned with 3,000-7,000 at WOT on the bottle...I'm going to a 28x11.5 tire and 4.10s so I'm hoping for high winding, tire hanging, and gear banging....

have a buddy with a couple of t-trim notches that runs 2.5" all they way back and both make around 700hp.  Anyhow, your going to make more top end power with the 3" exhaust at high levels.  My s-trim 331 on a 94- bbk equal length shorties, 2.5" bbk x-pipe, 2.5" flowmaster catback with 3 chamber mufflers.  I might take an audio clip tomorrow before I go the track.

thats kinda what i'm shooting for here.  Trust me, I've consulted with more than one "pro" on this issue.  I can stand to sacrifice some lowend...

If you like it buy it, thats how i do it. I take what people say on the internet as valued opinions but if i want something i get it.

When Handz made a steering wheel out of pink dildos we were all like hey man if it feels good in your hand then go for it.
