k.. have everything taken off except for coolant line..
i took the thermostat hosing off and drained out the coolant that goes across the line to the radiator..
just need the best idea of how to drain the coolant out of the manifold before i pop this ***** off. i'm excited!!
.. i'm on a laptop and literally next to my car.

the way i did it, and also did it to my friends car, was unplug the lower radiator hose and let it drain from there into a bucket. when i took the manifold off, there was very little that spilled.

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you take the wall with you.

it doesnt go into the trans. it goes to a bracket behind the drivers side head, and then from there it turns into a rubber hose that goes into the heater core. i think the metal tube you are talking about is the EGR tube, and that one goes into the manifold look at this pic of my car, its the shiney black tube with the ford inventory stickers on it: http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a267/ender03/Re-sized%20Photos/Picture061.jpg

The PI Intake is much deeper so that line needs to be routed around the intake runners.

The PI Intake is much deeper so that line needs to be routed around the intake runners. yup, what he said. the NPI line runs directly under the intake manifold. with bolt of them side by side, you can see how the PI one is much deeper than the NPI one (and thus will go deeper into the cylinder valley). the NPI coolant tube would stop it from going any deeper than the NPI manifold, so the coolant tube needs to be routed around the intake manifold rather than directly under

Since you have a 98 you might not need to swap nipples on the water pump so that may save you some time. Did you buy a New PI nipple?

no i sure didn't... i'm getting very aggrivated very fast.. but trying to stay calm.
were taking off the bracket for the metal line right now. and were going to try a hammer and crowbar meathod to get it of. otherwise i'm going to get a torch and cut it and put the new heater hose on.
trying to stay cool...

lol, dont use a hammer. there are 2 bolts (13mm if i remember right) that hold the bracket to the back of the head. with patience, you get these off. the new PI return tube only uses one of those 2 bolts, so be happy you dont have to install bolt the bolts back in. if you have one of those ratcheting wrenches, they work even better. once those 2 bolts are removed, the tube just slides out from behind the water pump.

thanks for everyone's help so far...
revi - i don't have a pi return line. aaron told me a lil while back to get 5/8s heater hose. and jr also said that would work too. so thats the meathod i'm going to do... and i just snapped one of my coolant sensors. but luckilaly one of my friends has a 96 gt i'm going to take it off of that doens't run right now...
so i was just going to use the heater hose. and reroute it..
i'm just taking it slow trying not to get pissed off...
update <-- having trouble getting that bottom bolt on the bracket for the return line. one of my friends went to the store to get a 13mm rachet wrench..

at least a few hours(1-2) i think the reason i had problems is cuase when i put the intake on it scraped the rear port RTV and didnt get a good seal. some people have fired it right up and had no leaks, some people swear it takes 8 hours. 1-2 should work well

Get em tightened, then leave it be overnight. hopefully you don't have anywhere to go first thing in the morning? That way you can check it over and everything.

i got all the bolts tightened up. and did a quick test fire. and it sounded good. still a little whistle.. like a vaccume line. but i went over those like 3 or 4 times.. so i'm clueless... i didn't drive the car and it wasn't running for any longer then 3 seconds. and i only fired it 3 times. i left my car in my friend's garage to sit until i get off work tomorrow night. then i'll try to take it out. god damn i'm so excited.. the back 2 correct? lol. i left those loose at first too
lol yeah.. how ironic Get em tightened, then leave it be overnight. hopefully you don't have anywhere to go first thing in the morning? That way you can check it over and everything.
i'll just wait until i get off tomorrow night jr. gives it all the time it should need to cure right??

i let the RTV cure for as long as it took me to get everything put back on, then fired it up for about 5 minutes, checked for leaks, drove it down the block slowly, checked for leaks, made a right turn to the stop sign, and then redlined 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear, checked for leaks, then hopped onto the freeway and redlined 1-4th gears. no leaks :hammer:

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you take the wall with you.
