I am trying to put together an inexpensive brake package for my lil bro as a b-day present. I know that different kits are available, but that's not the route I want to go. After doing some research this is what I have come up with so far:
Calipers - from a 91 Lincoln Mark VII (increases piston size by 13mm)
Master Cylinder - from a 94 Mustang GT (larger bore size, which should increase peddle firmness)
MC adapter kit - from MM
SS caliper sleeves - from MM
SS brake lines - from Russell
     Speed bleeders - from Russell

Before tax the total is about $350. What opinions or experience does anyone with these parts? The aforementioned price is what I want to stick to so bear that in mind if make recommendations. Thanks.

I will sell you my complete Lincoln Mark VII front setup off of my notch if you want.  Spindles, rotor/hubs, calipers, pads, etc.  No master cylinder.

I'm upgrading to all new SN95 stuff.

what were the advantages/disadvantages of that setup as far as braking is concerned?

Thanks for the offer, but he doesn't have the cash for a conversion. I'm trying give him a setup that he can build upon when he's ready.

1st of all, everyone needs an older brother like you. 2nd off, for $100 more you could buy a complete Aerospace kit for the front for him.

2.3L? SOHC?

I run that same setup on my girlfriends convertible, along with turbocoupe rear disc brakes, and it really made a big difference in stopping power.

but I did it the poor mans way and used basically junkyard parts to do it, I think the only new parts I bought were the master cylinder, front calipers (used her old ones as cores - napa), and the 3-2 conversion.  I think I have $250 into the brakes and 3.55 rear end on that car, I still want to swap out the brake hoses for SS braided as the pedal feel is a bit soft and her brake hoses have 180k on them...
