It's funny, even in its simplest form, stripped down and all, that harness will be a mess compared to the factory stuff. The entire harness setup for the car originally is as complicated as the basic body harness of the mach 1 lol

Which is why I love my 67.
Classics rock my socks off like theres no tomorow. No frills, all thrills. Electrical fires are totally thrills. haha
But seriously, I love how basic and fundamental classics are.

Yep. It took me no time to solve the dash and full car harness setup in the FB.

Today I went through the wiring diagrams in the manual that the ex-ford dealer is letting me barrow. it turns out that pretty much everything on this particular harness is needed accept for a couple minor plugs that I can hide. So I am not going to hack it up.

This is the harness that connects the engine harness to the ECU. It has 3 plugs that are under the dash where the computer is. 2 are for the dash harnesses and 1 goes to the rear of the car for the fuel pump. I will use the fuel pump harness and just modify it at the pump end instead of rigging something up to work. Because the dash harness plugs are hidden under the dash board there is no need to cut them out.

The modual in the pic is the CCRM and is needed for the fuel pump and fan and some other items that are needed.

The plug connecter with the bracket and the smaller one next to it are for the engine harness. There is also another engine harness plug on there that is a bit smaller.

Then it has the plugs that connect to to the 2 fuse boxes, a ground plug, a plug for the cooling fan, those are all needed.

The ones I don't need are for the A/C and the headlights/fog lights. We decided not removing the A/C plugs just in case we wanted later on to add the A/C. The headlight/fog light wiring I can just cat back. So this harness will stay pretty much intact.

Can't get much easier then having a donor car. Sucks you couldn't thin it out, but atleast you know you'll have everything you need as it sits.

I feel a dose ofyour pain on the wiring.  I just pulled the dash out of the 98, and there was approximately 8 bazillion connections.
Can't wait to figure out what to use, and what to remove on mine!

I have not had much time the past month or so. I went down to work on it last sunday and ended up doing a 4 wheel brake job on my dad's Mach.

I had alot on the agenda today but, my day was cut short. More on that later.

What I did get done was start installing the clutch cable. First I located the spot to drill throught the firewall.

Then I found the right size hole saw and drilled out a hole.

If you look through the hole you will see that the top left portion is covered by the windshield wiper motor bracket and the bottom portion is covered by insulation. I cut away the section of insulation that was covering the hole, and I notched out the bracket with a carbide cutting bit so the clutch cable would not rub on it. I got that all finished, and did a test fit of the cable and everything is good.

At this point I get a phone call from my wife at work. She tells me she was just bit by a dog(she is a dog groomer) and is going to the hospital. So I had to drop what I was doing and leave.
She is o.k. she was bit on the leg and had a couple nasty puncture wounds.

I finished installing the clutch cable today and started on the throttle cable. The cable is not the problem here it is the pedal. The Mach fuel pedal sits way to close to the floor and the angle is all wrong. I am going to have to make a bracket and lift it off the floor about a inch and a half to get proper clearance. I had to take out the sound deadener to make it fit properly. I will reinstall it when the fuel pedal is installed and the cable is installed.

Also removed the heater box since it is not going to be used, and masked off the intirior so when it warms up we are ready to do the repaint.

Have you looked into Locar for pedal options?

The clutch cable is now installed. The throttle cable is partially installed. I am waiting for the fuel pedal pedistal to be welded together so I have a hole location to drill.

The wiring for the alternator harness was removed from the main wiring harness and rerouted to the right side of the engine bay. The cam sensor was routed back to it's proper position, I just need to get some small wire loom for it to be complete.

The battery tray mounting holes have been drilled and the tray installed.
