I now have the pedal assembly in place. It is temporarily bolted in. I was able to install it pretty close to the stock position. I had to move the wiper motor mounting bracket over to the right, and I will have to modify the mounts. Now the clutch quadrant is free and clear. I had to do a slight modification to the steering shaft casing so the brake pedal does not hit the shaft.

The Hydroboost will be in almost the stock position. It will clear the fender apron by about a quarter of an inch, so I will have to go with "plan B" for the hood hinges.

This is the template I made for the hydroboost and where it will go.

The bracket on the right  side is the Wiper motor bracket. It was held in place by 4 bolts, not tack welded like I originally thought. So for now I moved it over using just the 2 right side mounting bolts. Just above the end of the pedal bracket you can see where the left side mounting bolt is, for it's original position. As long as the wiring is tied up out of the way, the quadrant is free and clear.

Here are the pedals bolted into position.

Here are the pedals with the steering column, you can see how tight a fit it is.

To remedy this minor inconvenience, I am doing some grinding to the steering column. This part is not quite done yet, (I ran out of time) and I may have to cut away part of the steering column outer shell. It is barely touching, but I need a bit of clearance.

I'd clearance the steering column as well. Rather be safe than sorry, cause you don't want the peddle getting stuck up on it.

Just did some work today.

The master cylinder is now fitted and bolted into place. It fits perfectly. Plenty of room to pull the spark plugs when needed. Plenty of room for the Brake lines to be mounted. Plenty of room for the hydraulic hoses for the brake booster. The pedals are in the exact position they need to be in. It went way better than I thought it was going to be.

I need to get some pictures, my wife stole the memory card from the camera.

Next up is making the reenforcing plate for the firewall, pulling the engine and trans back out. Cutting out the crappy fender aprons and having the new ones welded in. Painting the engine bay, and reinstalling the engine for the last time.

There is a ton of crap that needs to be done. Getting the engine in and fired up is only half the battle. I will still need to fit the rear. The major purchases I will need are a radiator, alluminum drive shaft, tune, dash pad, plus all the other little nit picky crap I need. Finish all the little B.S. stuff that needs to be done, which is alot considering the intirior needs to be finnished up.

I was really wanting to be done for the end of July for the big Mustang show in Quakertown Pa. But that is unrealistic. Now I am shooting for the big Ford show at Raceway Park in Englishtown N.J. at the end of October.

I am excited, I got to work on my car 2 days this week......WoooooHoooo!

Today I took the pictures I promised of the master cylinder installed. I also removed the master cylinder, clutch/brake pedal assembly, engine and trans, and steering column.

Now that the master cylinder, engine and trans are all mounted up, I was able to take final measurments for the steering column. The steering column is now all cut to length, and a couple parts need to be tack welded into place. Then it will be ready for the final install.

I also started cutting out the right side fender apron. I ran out of time about half way done, so that is where I will pick up next time down.

The master cylinder apears to be in perfect position.

I still have to make some minor adjustments to the steering column for the brake pedal clearance. Mostly for the switch clip.

Here is where I am with the fender apron.

I like the Fairlane. Eventhough they are a big car, they move pretty good with the right engine. What are your plans besides a 390?

Well this is what my friend Kyel has done to the fairlane so far a slight built 306 4.56 gear, LT headers, B&M slap shifer and a B&M **** kit, fuel cell, and ET street rims. Dont qute me but i think that what they are called. This is what i want to do. I want to super charge the 390 but nuthing to big. Pluss parts for 390 are not to cheap I would like to make a show car out of it, and a all arownd good cruz car. I"m going to take out the 4.56 gears and put a 3.75 in it. For paint its going black pluss i want to lower like 2 inches. I should have some pics of her up tomarrow my dads going to e-mail them to me. No shots of the motor yet the car was locked and my dad forgot the keys. lol

Now we can all nod our heads and make decisions

I finally got some work done today. It seems like forever since I was there. Made some big strides today. I removed both of the fender aprons and the remainder of the radiator support. Also fitted the replacement parts.

In unrelated worok I rebiult the door hinges, reinstalled the dash pad, and chrome window moldings on our 1965 Falcon.

I spoke with a guy that does rears. Talked about getting a 9 inch or useing the 8.8. He said I would be better off with the 8.8 which really suprised me, since I would have been buying an axle housing from him. So I will be going with my original plan of useing the 8.8 out of the Mach. We will have to cut the spring saddles off of my 8 inch rear that is in the car now and weld them onto the 8.8.

Here they are, kinda fitted into place. Still needs a bit of tweeking.

Pile of junk.

Thanks. Pops and I are having alot of fun with it. My dad is actually thinking of doing this swap in our 1965 Falcon if this turns out good. I think I would rather do it to a Maverick or a Pinto.

The engine bay will be black and the car is Antique Bronze. It is very close to Aztec Gold. It is just going to have the basic bolt-ons for now, but my plan is eventually to have boost. I have 3/4's of the parts for the Eaton swap. Once it is moving we are going to have to tackle some traction issues.

Now we can all nod our heads and make decisions

Matt the car is going to be bad a*s when it done. cant wait to see it. i might just have to drive out there to see it in person when i get home. my old man thinks your build is the coolest thing in the world, and he would love to see the car in parson too. keep up the good work man

Not a problem. You deservse some down time when you get back.

If yall want to do it again, I have a 67 :D

If you want to pay, but we have to finish this one first.

haha. I'm a broke soon-to-be college student. I couldn't afford anything like this.

But its always nice to dream. I excited to see thiss thing running.

This is a build on budget. Save your pennies. The only way to do this sort of thing is with a parts car. Once you have that the rest is easy. Other than the parts car the only major expence is the front end swap. It helps if you can weld so you don't have to pay someone to do it.

Yall do good work. Reminds me alot of me and my dad.

Thanks Steven, we are having fun with it. I just wish my kids were into it enough to want to be involved. They could cae less.

It's really odd how genetics works, if that is the case. My dads a chevy man, and I bleed ford Blue. Then I know alot of guys my age who are huge into cars and trucks, and there dads can't even change their oil. Kind of funny how things work. Me and my Pops are a pair though, Had a big problem with the vintage venom kit on the 65 last night and he didn't want to mess with it, so I jumped in there and knocked it out for him. It's like tag team mustangism lol
