WWW

I drove my car for approximately two hours yesterday (first time out in a month) I beat it a bit lol.. And I could smell my clutch burning at times? I thought it could be happening as I was flooring. But, when I went in a parking lot to try a burn the REAL trouble starting happening. I started to rev the engine at 3000rmp then release the clutch and press on the break to make it spin. After approx. 5 seconds, I decided to see if it could take 2nd gear.

I was in second gear and it seemed to give a lot of power! I thought "WOW, let's give 3rd a try"..... I was like wtf is that possible?..I stopped pressing on the gas pedal and saw A LOT of smoke popping of my hood + I was not able to move forward.   I was able to rev the engine, but not accelerate. I turned off the car in a panic, obviously.   I waited about 20 min for the smoke to stop coming out from behind the engine.    After that, I tried to start the car. I could hear it turning, but it sounded really bad and then unfortunately, there was smoke again!!  I went to see the marks of the burn: there was freaking nothing? then where did all that smoke come from??!! I have obviously screwed something up and don?t know what f**k it is . So I had to call for a tow to get it home -.- I am hoping you guys have an idea of what could of caused this.

All help will be appreciated.

Thank you so much!

Sounds like you might have just roasted your clutch disc. Something wouldn't let your pressure plate engage fully onto your disc and flywheel to clamp them all together. Sounds like it is time for a new clutch.

I would replace

Clutch
TOB
Pilot bearing

I would also look into maybe a new cable. possible a new clutch Fork and Pivot ball also.

This means a lot of work... :( But I also want to let you know that there is no compression... Do you think it could be the timing chain?

Exactly what Paul said. You know, what you did would FRY the clutch. If you lost compression the engine would have shut off on its own. One thing is not related to the other, unless there's something you didn't tell us.

I am confused why doesnt it have compression?  Your car was running when you were burning up your clutch so therefor your motor was making compression.  I think you didn't burn the tires at all probably just the clutch the whole time.  I bet if you drop the inspection cover you'll find a lot of friction material.

Just a Ques?? Is this the guy that said he couldn't get your catback on without taking the wheel off???

Just what paul said throw it up on jackstands and pull the Crossover pipe driveshaft then the tranny and you will find your problem right there.

Okay, thanks for all the help cheesy

First of all, my car is parked in my driveway ( incline ). I tried to see if my car would go down by releasing the handbrake and by putting my car in gear... What happen is that it didn't block like it's suppose to :P I also ask two mechanic in my neighborhood to come look at it.. And they told me that the starter was not working.. Do you guys think when I burned the clutch, all the thing went in front of the starter thing... so this is why I can't hear it?

wow... but if the starter starts your car... then how in the hell could it be bad???

Is the starter engaging and turning the motor and not disengaging? Meaning even though the motor is running the starter keeps spinning? Listen carefully, it should be very obvious if thats the case...

Didn't block i am lost. If you rolled your car in reverse or 1st gear you should be able to pop your clutch to get it started without a starter.

spec 3 clutch totally unnecessary
flywheel ok, dont need it though... but will free up some power and get better throttle response...
dont waste your time with aftermarket clutch cables adjusters and quadrants

you don't need a heavy clutch like the spec.  You can get a much lighter clutch which will be much easier on your tranny.  I am running a super king cobra and so far so good.  It grabs good and its that heavy.  It can hold burnouts without burning up the clutch either!!!

I have a centerforce dual friction and love it! People tell me the pedal feel is hard, but I honestly dont see it. I have done a few brake torques with it and never had burning clutch smell or came close to blowing it up. It's rated for 450hp, I think my tranny would blow first :P. Before you order that clutch, take the old one OUT to make sure it is... just in case!

Yes it will hold the power fine but will it explode before hand maybe?  I will never buy another DF again.  The pressure plate blew apart on me.  Never been to the track or raced either and I'm only at 355rwtq.  Want a new clutch plate for yours?  Mines still like brand new.

No you shouldn't but he did.  Spec is totally unnecessary for his mods even if he goes full bolt ons.  From what I've been reading lately it seems like lots of guys put in super heavy duty clutches when it is not necessary.  I have never used spec but from what I hear its a heavy pedal and can cause your tranny to break because its such a heavy clutch.

WWW

you don't need a heavy clutch like the spec.  You can get a much lighter clutch which will be much easier on your tranny.  I am running a super king cobra and so far so good.  It grabs good and its not that heavy.  It can hold burnouts without burning up the clutch either!!!

You shouldn't burn up the clutch when you do burn outs...

No you shouldn't but he did.  Spec is totally unnecessary for his mods even if he goes full bolt ons.  From what I've been reading lately it seems like lots of guys put in super heavy duty clutches when it is not necessary.  I have never used spec but from what I hear its a heavy pedal and can cause your tranny to break because its such a heavy clutch.

clutches don't break trannies... thats something that happens in handz's little world...

His best bet is to get the clutch paul is selling and save money for mods that are worth while... like gears, or a cam, or headers

I am so sick of all of this self help, twelve step, leftover hippie generation bullshit! Now they don't want you to do anything, right? Just sit there. Don't drink. Don't smoke. Don't drive fast. Kiss my a*s! F*ck it! Do it all I say!  Do you think Duke Wayne spent all of his time talking about his feelings with a f*ckin' therapist? There's no f*cking way he did! John Wayne died with five pounds of undigested red meat in his a*s. Now that's a man! Real men hide their feelings. Why? Because it's none of your f*ckin' business! Men do not cry. Men do... not pout. Men jack you in the f*ckin' jaw and say...Thanks for comin' out.
