Is there a way to test the coil packs on our cars?

My way was to get a spare set form a yard and see if the problem went away when I tried them one at a time. When I swapped one my misfire went away so I knew i had an issue

Yes primary and secondary resistance can be measured.. The values and how to's are in your Haynes or Chiltons. The only way to be 100% sure is with an oscilloscope but generally, a DMM or AMM will do the job.

To check for cracks it's much easier. HAve the car running and put one hand on the fender and another on the top of the Coil pack and feel for the shock.

Thanks, but I use a rubber glove when I mess around with coils on a running motor! ZAP!

I assume any 4-pack is ok. It has been too goopy after all last week's rain to go tromping through the delightful soil of the 'yard...

Thanks, but I'm OK for a while now. Eventually, I'll replace both of them with MSD. Thank you for the offer! Have a nice Christmas! Ray

i had a misfire and i couldnt figure it out. i had new plugs and wires so i figured it had to be a coil pack. all i did was disconnect the plugs while the car was running. some people told me im crazy, and ive seen others get a slight shock, even people saying to hold hands so it spreads out the shock. i didnt get any shock at all and i unplugged them all one at a time (of coarse).
i just held them close enough to see the spark transfering and i found two that werent making a spark, bought a new coil pack and bam problem was solved. best thing is it only took a few minutes to change them
