I’ve been struggling with car overheating while idling for the past couple days and I can’t figure out what the cause is. When it started the temp jumped up and I turned the car off and there was a lot of steam from my coolant boiling. I checked and the top radiator hose had no pressure. I saw that there was a leak from the hose that runs from the thermostat housing to the water pump, so I got a new hose and fixed that. The t-stat housing was leaking too so I fixed that. The upper radiator hose was still getting no pressure so I flushed the coolant and that still didn’t fix it. A little later after letting it run, I take the upper hose off and it is dry. I have no thermostat so I know that’s not blocking it and I got no idea what to do next.

The fins in your water pump have more than likey deteriorated into dust. Hence no water movement.
