Stuck Seat Vertical Motor

The motor for vertical adjustment work very well if it is outside the seat console. Assembled in the console the motor stops in random positions and wont move anymore, it get stuck while turning. I checked the hinges and pins of the console for exhessive play or worn/bend parts, all look good. I even opened the motor, checked the magnet and gears, all is ok not damages.
Is it possible that such motor looses strenth during time?

well I mean not many motors are known to gain power over time. Can you manually turn the worm gear at all? How tight is it?

also just out of stupidity, you tested for voltage at the harness in the car that plugs into the seat? It occured to me that you are probably using an alternate power source to test it out of the car? Do we know the one inside is good?

I have tested the motor with the battery under the hood and as well as on a shop 12V car power suppply, I have been in a shop for repairing sunroof, convertible tops and so.

The gear wont spin by hand, I think the motor/gears has an automatic brake system. But it spins in both directions very freely with 12V.

When the motor is assembled in the seat console, and it start to spin, it rotates just a tiny bit, maybe thats why the mechanic gets stuck. Need to investigate again.

But I wonder if someone had same issue before

I would just replace it. Motors have bearings in them and things like that and they can start to dry out and get seized.

I will say again, take a voltmeter and make sure that you have 12v constant at the plug in the car. The tests you have done have bypasses the input from the car by going around it. If you have no power there, that is why the motor isn't turning. Start checking fuses if it is dead

They all die eventually. LMR sells a repair kit with new motors.

For some reason those vertical motors fail a lot. Probably because they don’t get used much. I used the LMR kit to fix a seat last year. Worked well.

They fail quicker than the fore/aft motor because they sustain most of the load or weight of the driver. It's a Mustang after all, so these motors are not very expensive for Ford to equip and for you to replace. If it were a Bentley they'd probably last longer, but they'd be $$$. And that's not really the point of a Mustang, now, is it?

Well, except for the newer ones of course. But I guess everything in the world is more expensive these days because our money ain't worth shit.

I fixed it, you will never now what it was!!!

The motor has a 2 sheet plate, this is kind of circuit breaker, when this plate gets hot, it breaks contact, stop the motor from working and after some seconds when it get cold again the motor work again. For me it seem, this plate has kind of paste between the sheets, like processor paste from Computers.
This liquid seem to be burned or squeezed out and because of that the heat could not absorb.

To get access to this plate, the motor has to be opened completely, so I eliminated the plate and put both wires together and changed the coals as well.

Work good now and the heat shouldn't be a big issue because the vertical adjuster will be activated only a few seconds.

I even changed the shock of the lower seat frame, the original was worn out with less pressure.
