Once my engine (347 stroker) gets up to temp, the gauge is reading around 180*. It doesn’t seem to get higher, but is that an acceptable temperature or would a thermostatic oil cooler be a good idea?
Keep in mind that the 180° reading is engine coolant temp and may not be indicative of the oil temperature; however, as @cobrajeff96 stated, unless you're racing, you're probably fine without a cooler.I guess I’m ok then since my gauge never reads above 180*. Thanks!
I guess I'm assuming he has an oil temp gauge setup? Otherwise 180 is on the cold side for most cars water temp lolKeep in mind that the 180° reading is engine coolant temp and may not be indicative of the oil temperature; however, as @cobrajeff96 stated, unless you're racing, you're probably fine without a cooler.
