i just thought about this after reading another post. 2 Questions:

1. do I need a specific scanner to pull the codes in a 94/95 mustang? i have the Actron CP9015 for the EECIV, and i have the Actron CP9175 for OBDII cars. Do i need yet another scanner for the EECV or will the CP9175 work (94/95 have the OBDII interface on the drivers side of the center console)?

2. is there another way to get the codes via a key cycle or something?

94/95 GT/COBRA are EEC-IV. The 3.8's are the ODB-II. Your actron scanner should work for your GT. The connectors you need for the GT are in the engine bay on the passenger side on the back side of the shock tower. The only reason the OBD-II connector is in your GT is because they used the same harness for all the mustangs, it only works in the V6.

This is the basic principal for running the self test without a scanner....
