i picked up a 1995 cobra that has been sitting outside and hasn't run for 4 plus years. does anyone have any advice on trying to start this thing for the first time? i was planning on starting with Changning the fluids fuel and oil filter and fresh fuel. should i be worried of anything internally like surface rust?

Welcome. Start up a build thread when you have time. We love new projects.

In a sealed engine the chances are low that the bores are rusted.

I’d suggest dropping the fuel tank and removing the pump hanger to inspect the internal condition. Change the fuel filter and the pump strainer.

Fresh oil and coolant is a good second step. Turning it over by hand to ensure it’s not seized would be another idea.

Beyond that? Fresh brake and power steering fluid is another good idea.

Check to make sure the brakes aren't seized up. Wheels rotate freely, no noise, no leaks.

You can also hold the gas pedal down and crank it over to get the oil flowing too. Shouldn't start (if you didn't know that).

Pictures too would be awesome.

I’d start by dropping the tank and inspecting the fuel pump hanger and replace the fuel filter
