Well, as the Mustang is tucked away for winter we were working on the Escort:
- Mobil 1 0W40 + Mann filter
- air filter Mann
- fuel filter Mann
- NGK spark plugs
- Bosch plug wires
- power steering fluid
- thermostat
- minor adjustment of the hood

After doing more highway driving the engine seems to be cleaning itself and running better and better. Which is nice. :)

Hey not a bad looking weld! Far better than what i can produce with tig aluminum. Terrible too cause i spent a good $1500 on a setup so that i can learn aluminum tig. My patients and frustration gets to me.

I started welding right out of high school. Mostly mig but picked up a tig about 15 years ago. Took me quit some time to learn as its a totally different animal than mig. I still have a ton to learn but im getting there.

Im with you. Ive had enough time behind the mask mig welding steel and aluminum spool gun to lay a decent bead, but tig welding aluminum is worlds apart. Thats why i got my 2nd son into using the tig welder.

Function AND form. Nicely done. Unfortunately I'm of the 'weld it' and then spend hours grinding and finishing it crowd. I learned to weld working on equipment, while on the job. As in "This bracket broke, we need it fixed - there's the welder, figure it out."

LOL

Had welding in college as a required class. Tig was always what separated the "welders" from the guys who were just there because it was required.

Parked car for winter. Started stripping parts out. All new stuff going in

Check your balljoints folks. This is what prompted me to redo my entire suspension. Fortunately I found there was no play in this one, so i wasn't close to a bad time, but I still wanted to sleep soundly, so all new control arms, tie rod ends, spring, shocks, etc going in.

68K miles on this bad boy. The FB groups are full of balljoint failures it seems. I see one a week at least.

we finally got the katzkin kit installed in my dad's car and I have to say I am impressed. The color match could not have been any closer and general look and overall feel(and smell) make it feel like a new car. I know people will be curious as to the price and at $1800 including them replacing the seat heaters in the car it seems pretty reasonable.

This is a customers car. S197 with the infamous 3v. Old engine took a poop so the plan was to swap this 80k unit pictured here in with some cams and go. But the guy got the idea of boosting it, so here we are wads of money later and he’s ordered some really nice weld wheels, on3 turbo kit, some small suspension components etc. the engine is just about buttoned up, just waiting for the phaser tool to lock the spring in place so I can put some limiters. All new timing components, bottom end main and rod bearings look great, as well as the valve train. This will definitely be a fun job.
